To me there are lots of benefits I have found to doing do-it-yourself semiglutide!
Control: Semiglutide from a doc or office comes in pre-filled syringes. The dosing is predetermined which is great, but that also means you have no ability to adjust it. Doing it yourself means you are in control. If it's too much, slow it down. If you don't need as much to feel it's effects, you don't have to force your body to keep going up. Its all up to you.
Financial: when I looked into getting a prescription for semiglutide I found a lot of places willing to give it to me but most charged $300+ per month. Cutting out the middleman is WAY cheaper!

Giving yourself your first injection will be the worse one, but you can do it!
Injection needs to be done in a fatty chunk of skin-belly, thigh, bootie
To give an injection:
clean vial top with alcohol swab
draw out medication amount
clean skin with alcohol swab
pinch and stick!
Tips**
The harder you pinch your skin, the less you'll feel the poke. Pinching allows you to control how much pain you're feeling.
Don't go slow! Go for it!
These needles are very very small-you may not even feel it.

The injection kit comes with everything you need to get your semiglutide ready. The semiglutide comes in a vial of powder that needs to be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water.
Once you have your construction kit, the instructions for reconstitution are:
Using the grey filter needle draw up the correct amount of bacteriostatic water. (For the dosing on this site, reconstitute with 4mL)
Clean the top of the semiglutide vial with alcohol swab
Inject the bacteriostatic water into the semiglutide vial and gently swirl to dissolve powder
Keep constituted semiglutide in cool dry place

For me, semiglutide feels like right after you eat a huge Thanksgiving dinner. You feel gross , bloated, and very full but not necessarily sick. Sometimes I have felt a little nauseous but that is fleeting. If you find yourself feeling nauseous or vomiting, consider decreasing or changing how you are giving yourself your dose. (See "what if I think my dose is too much" FAQ)
Because I feel fuller, I feel satisfied by less and crave much less. When I'm hungry, I eat but because it makes me feel overly uncomfortably full, I don't overeat or just eat to eat.

If you feel like your dose is too much and you're not tolerating it you are in control and can change it.
Some ideas of how to adjust the dose:
Go back to the previous dose for another week.
Find the difference between the old dose and the new dose. Ex-if you're at 10 and going up to 20 is too much, do 15.
Split the dose into 2 half doses throughout the week. Give half at the beginning and half in the middle.

The lower the mg, the less medication and the cheaper the price. With less mg, it requires a higher dose to get the same amount so the shorter the time it will last.
The higher the mg, the more medication and the longer it will last. I started with 6 mg which was a good medium balance, and then switched to 10mg when I was ready for maintenance.

Reccommended dosing is once per week however, because you're in control you can do what feels best for you.

Semiglutide works to cause weight loss in 4 ways:
Makes you feel fuller-it slows down gastric emptying which means food digests more slowly, causing you to feel fuller longer.
Mimics the natural hormone GLP-1 that regulates hunger and cravings.
Boosts insulin-stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin.
Improves insulin sensitivity so your body can use the extra insulin the pancreas produces, which results in more consistent blood sugar regulation.

I'm sure that is true, or can be true. For me, semiglutide has made me feel more energized and more motivated to keep working out. I have not lost muscle that I can tell. I have continued to exercise, only now I exercise because I enjoy it and want to build muscle, not because I'm so panicked about food I ate that I have to combat the guilt.

Because semiglutide slows down digestion, it gives more time for the body to pull water from the stool in the intestines. The consequence of that is constipation. Drink LOTS of water in order to reduce this risk.

As with any weight loss regimen, rebound is a real thing. Because of this, I have tried to have semigultide be the tool I've needed to help me implement all of the habits I have tried to put in place unsuccessfully over the years. Use semiglutide as a a tool, not the solution. It has taught me what appropriate portions are for me, how many treats are "enough", and especially what it feels like to feel full and how to listen to that.
